Great to meet you!

Halito!

My name is RD. No, it doesn't stand for anything. You can call me RD, Dr. RD, or Drrd for short, OR you can get creative and make up what is stands for :) I grew up mostly in Colorado camping, fishing and hiking. I love hanging with my wife and kiddos. I've been licensed for 15 years as a psychologist. I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Brigham Young University and completed my APA-accredited internship at Colorado State University in 2009.

I have worked in a variety of settings including Sitka, Alaska working for an Alaska Native Health organization as a licensed psychologist, training director, and assessment coordinator while providing therapy and psychological assessments for children to the elderly.

I worked at Boise State University as their full time licensed licensed psychologist providing individual and group psychotherapy, as well as providing psychological testing. I worked at Brigham Young University as a licensed psychologist and as faculty both providing psychotherapy and teaching courses around career development and mental health.

Most recently, I worked for Nat-Su Healthcare as their Chief Behavioral Health Officer. This organization provided residential and outpatient therapy for adults and teens who were predominantly Native American and from all walks of life. I provided individual, group psychotherapy, in addition to psychological evaluations.

While I am confident in my abilities to work with most mental health concerns, I enjoy working with those struggling with depression, anxiety, perfectionism, trauma in all its forms, identity development, multicultural issues, spirituality, sexual identity, family/relationships, crises, self harm, suicidality. I work especially well with teens, adults and the elderly.

I can't wait to meet you!

My approach to therapy

Life is full of challenges and opportunities! I believe each experience is an opportunity to learn and grow towards health, well-being, and life balance. I see my role as a balance between offering informed perspectives, and a safe, supportive environment to explore the unexplored. I see myself in the passenger seat with you at the wheel. You decided where we go, but I am on the journey with you to provide insight and opportunities for growth and healing. I tailor my approach to what you want from your therapy experience.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to be welcomed with no judgment from me. The very fact that you decided to try therapy deserves respect. You can count on me to be honest, transparent, infusing each session with hope.
