Great to meet you!

You may be trying to keep everything together while anxiety, depression, or family stress makes everyday life feel heavier than it should. Perhaps your mind rarely slows down, grief has changed the way you experience yourself or the world around you, or relationship difficulties leave you feeling unheard, disconnected, or unsure of what needs to change. I work with adolescents, seniors, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, family issues, grief or loss, and relationship issues. These concerns can also overlap with ADHD, stress management, anger, cultural and ethnic concerns, or PTSD, especially when relationships, identity, difficult experiences, and everyday responsibilities begin affecting one another. Therapy can give you a place where you do not have to minimize what you are feeling or have everything figured out. Together, we can understand what has been weighing on you, strengthen healthier ways of coping and communicating, and help you feel more grounded and connected to yourself and others.

My approach to therapy

Our work will make room for both the person you are and the family, relationships, culture, emotions, and experiences that have shaped you. We’ll explore how anxiety, depression, family issues, grief or loss, and relationship issues may be affecting your emotional wellbeing and the way you connect with yourself and others. I may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you recognize patterns in thoughts and behaviors that contribute to distress and develop healthier ways of responding, Motivational Interviewing to help you explore change without pressure while strengthening your own reasons for moving forward, and Relational Therapy to better understand how your relationships and past experiences may influence the ways you connect, communicate, and respond to others today. Behavior Management strategies can help turn the changes you want to make into practical, achievable steps, while Play Therapy can give younger clients a developmentally appropriate way to communicate feelings and work through difficult experiences. Our sessions will be collaborative, affirming, and grounded in your individual needs rather than expecting you to fit into a predetermined version of therapy.

What you can expect from me

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or have the right words for everything you have been feeling before therapy can begin. During our first few sessions, we will take time to understand what brought you here, what has been most difficult, and what you hope will feel different. Together, we will create goals that feel meaningful and realistic and decide where it makes the most sense to start. You can expect me to bring warmth, openness, and affirmation to our conversations while creating a space where you can talk honestly about difficult emotions, family dynamics, relationships, grief, or experiences from your past without judgment. Progress may look like feeling less consumed by anxiety, reconnecting with yourself when depression feels heavy, communicating more openly in your relationships, navigating family conflict in healthier ways, or finding ways to carry grief without feeling defined by it. We will continue checking in on your goals and shape our work around what helps you feel more understood, supported, and confident moving forward.
