Great to meet you!

Welcome! My name is Rebecca Leon, and I am a Muslim American therapist from New York. I offer compassionate, psychodynamic therapy grounded in social justice and cultural humility. I believe that the foundation of therapy is built on having a safe and supportive space where all people are accepted for exactly who they are. I specialize in working with individuals and couples from diverse racial, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds. I help clients navigate the complexity of their inner world while honoring their lived experiences.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded in social justice and culturally-affirming care, which means being responsive to the cultural and social context of each person’s experiences. I believe that as a therapist, actively practicing anti-racism and anti-oppression is not only important, but essential. I recognize that every person is unique, and there is no “one size fits all” approach, which is why my style is eclectic and tailored to each client’s individual needs. My overarching goal as a therapist is to support my clients through empathy and unconditional positive regard.

What you can expect from me

I believe that healing happens in connection and the most fruitful therapy is built on mutual trust and respect. During the first few sessions, we'll go at your own pace and focus on developing a strong and trusting relationship where you feel safe enough to share your story.
