Great to meet you!

Hi, I am Rebecca! I became a therapist because I know firsthand what it feels like to need support and not be able to find the right fit. After years of disappointment with therapy during adolescence and young adulthood, I decided to become the one I wished I had found. That drive to create something different, something real, and genuinely helpful, is at the heart of everything I do.

I am a licensed creative arts therapist with over a decade of experience working with incredibly diverse people across New York City. My background includes working with all ages, from children to teens to adults and couples, across a wide range of concerns including trauma, grief, identity, relationships, addiction, and more. I am bilingual and offer therapy in both English and Spanish.

I especially love working with people who feel like they do not quite fit the mold. If you have ever felt too sensitive, too much, too different, or like you do not fully belong anywhere, you are exactly who I had in mind when I built this practice. I work with members of the LGBTQ+ community including transgender and gender non-binary individuals, neurodivergent and highly sensitive people, Hispanic and Latine communities, creatives, activists, couples, and those in non-traditional relationship structures.

You do not need to have it all figured out before reaching out. You just need to be ready to show up and open to the process!

My approach to therapy

What happens in our sessions mostly depends on you, because you are the expert on your own life and I am here as your guide. Some days we talk, other days we create, and some days we sit with something uncomfortable until it starts to make sense. I follow your lead while bringing my full clinical self to every session, my curiosity, my warmth, and sometimes a gentle but direct challenge when I think it will serve your growth.

I draw from a wide range of approaches including trauma focused work, somatic practices, attachment theory, CBT, emotionally focused therapy, psychodynamic work, creative arts, and mindfulness among many others. I also bring a strong cultural humility and systems informed lens. This is because so much of what we struggle with is shaped by the world around us and the conditioning we have absorbed along the way.

I am a creative arts therapist which means art, play, and creativity are always available as tools for processing what is difficult to put into words. No art experience is needed and creative art making is always optional.

My job is to help you understand yourself more deeply, build new ways of relating to yourself and others, and create a life that actually feels like yours.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating so let me walk you through what it actually looks like with me.

Our first session is a comprehensive intake. We will go through some paperwork, assessments, and I will ask a lot of questions about your history, your symptoms, and what you most want to work on. This helps me get a fuller picture of what shapes you and where we should focus our work together. It can feel like a lot, and that is okay. There is absolutely no pressure to disclose everything in our first meeting. We are just getting to know each other and you share only what feels comfortable.

From there we build together. Sessions are flexible and responsive to what you need in the moment. Some weeks we go deep into something painful. Other weeks we focus on skills, tools, or something lighter. I check in regularly about how the work is feeling and genuinely want your feedback, including if something is not working for you.

Progress in therapy is rarely a straight line. There will be breakthroughs and there will be weeks that feel like you are back at square one. That is completely normal and actually part of the process. I will be honest with you about where I see growth even when you cannot see it yourself.

My goal is for this to feel like somewhere you genuinely want to come, not because it is always comfortable, but because you always leave feeling a little more like yourself.
