Great to meet you!

Throughout my career, my focus has been on treating children and youth with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. Some of these children and youth struggle with their family relationships, friendships, or have behavioral issues at school. They are in need of a trusted counselor who will provide empathy, emotional regulation skills, and other tools to help them best manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They want to have more positive relationships with less conflict, better management of their anger or other difficult feelings, and hope to feel more confident in their ability to resolve conflicts with family or friends.

My approach to therapy

I typically provide therapy using Cognitive Behavioral approaches, and also integrate other evidence-based practices to have a more personalized approach to counseling. These practices include (but are not limited to) play therapy for children, family therapy, couples therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also feel comfortable providing counseling from a Christian perspective if clients request this option. I approach clients in a client-centered way, meaning the focus is on their goals and desire to pursue the change process. My hope is that all clients feel heard, encouraged and educated with tools to help them cope with difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Life is hard and having someone you trust to talk to can make a huge difference in providing hope and strength to face the next day.

What you can expect from me

My goal is for clients to leave therapy in a better place than when they started. I also hope for clients to feel as their own goals are being met, and to not extend counseling longer than necessary. With my client-centered approach, I hope to create a warm and trusting counseling relationship where clients feel safe to honestly share their internal and external struggles, and to seek a more peaceful future.
