Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Rebecca Schneider and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Carthage College and my Master of Social Work with a concentration in mental health and trauma from the University of Denver. I have experience providing therapy to adolescents and adults in community mental health and private practice settings. I integrate different therapy modalities based on what each client needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I specialise in trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, LGBTQ issues, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and dissociation.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy in a collaborative way. I ask questions throughout the course of therapy. I use a person centred approach and trauma informed techniques. I often use humour in sessions. I ask questions and engage in open dialogue in each session. I work with clients on identifying underlying thought patterns, learning skills, seeing situations from different viewpoints, and accepting what needs to be accepted.

What you can expect from me

In the first session or two I take time to get to know you and what exactly you're looking for from therapy. At the end of the session I check in to ensure you feel comfortable working with me. If you do I work with you on creating a treatment plan. I focus on building trust in the first couple of sessions - meaning there is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with.
