Great to meet you!

Life is hard. Trauma--whether major or minor--is a focus area for my practice. Trauma changes both the story we tell ourselves about others and the world, and the story we believe about self. It impacts our brains, our bodies, and our emotions, and good therapy should bring freedom and healing in all 3 areas.

Helping people overcome the impact of trauma is important to me because of several negative experiences I had with therapists for my children after they experienced trauma. Through graduate school, supervised experience, and 5 years of practice, I have been honored to help people transform their stories. Because trauma impacts everyone, I have trained in multiple modalilties to open my practice to both children and adults.

My approach to therapy

I believe that each person is the expert and has the ability to find healing. I am simply a well-trained guide with a variety of tools to help you discover yourself and find words to express yourself to others. Some of the tools I use include cognitive behavior therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and internal family systems.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, we'll dive into your story--early history, major characters, challenging experiences, worries--all the things you think are important to who you are today and who you would like to be tomorrow. I take a story approach to allow you to feel safe and not interrogated, while still gathering the information needed to be clinically accurate and helpful. We'll also talk about treatment and collaborate on a plan to move forward.
