Great to meet you!

Hi there! I have been a therapist for about 25 years (MSW- Western Michigan University). I feel grateful to have such meaningful work and honored to walk alongside such a variety of people on their journeys. My clients have described me as irreverent, honest, and caring.

Many folks come to therapy in times of crisis and others come because they are looking for a neutral place to talk and process a wide range of life experiences including trauma, anxiety/depression, substance concerns, and relationship issues.

In my non-work hours you'd find me spending time with my elementary age kiddo and our dog, listening to live music, swimming in Lake Michigan, or finishing up a good jigsaw puzzle!

My approach to therapy

My practice focuses on a "bottom-up" approach, taking into account how our bodies and mind are interconnected. We work together to finding grounding and to move toward healing and health.

If you like to talk modalities, I am most informed by somatic psychology and other trauma approaches as well as attachment theory. I am trained in EMDR and an advanced level Somatic Experiencing student.

What you can expect from me

Truthfully, first sessions vary a bit based on what you need. When folks are seeing me for the first time in serious crisis we'll start with trying to get a bit of grounding. I tend to leave the floor open for questions you might have or to share experiences that you've had in therapy in the past so that can inform how we move forward. I'll share about myself and how I tend to work. We'll see if our personalities feel like a good fit. I'd like to hear about what you want to get from therapy. We might talk about the details of why you've come but we'll be thoughtful about the pace we take since rushing into hard content can often backfire.
