Great to meet you!

Hi! For the last 16 years, I have worked in a variety of settings: psych hospitals, juvenile justice, rape trauma centers, drop in centers for women and children, and non-profit, community-based mental health. I have specific interests in life transitions, like losing someone special to you, career changes, or college life, novice experiences such as young adulthood or new parenthood, and personal identity and values development. I have extensive experience working with complex trauma and dissociation as well as complex mental health conditions such as psychosis, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders.

My approach to therapy

In my practice, you are the ultimate keeper of your story and I offer a containing, grounding presence to you. My role is to offer the tools, therapeutic scaffolding, and unwavering support to help you manage major life transitions, reclaim your narrative, and heal on your own terms. I like to use compassion, joy, curiosity, and transparent, honest communication, including reflections on what I am seeing and curious pointing out of what may be residing underneath the surface. I view therapy as a partnership, and a bidirectional relationship; I often use anecdotes, stories, narratives, education tools, and self disclosure in order to support what is coming up in the 'room'.

What you can expect from me

Ultimately, first sessions are spaces to get to know each other and lay out the framework of how we will work together. There's a concept in some some therapeutic practices called befriending which has resonated with me for a really long time, and my clients experience waves of that while we get to know each other. We will look at the big picture together, while I use an approach grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices with humility, creative expression, and a deep respect for your own wisdom as you navigate life's shifting chapters.
