Great to meet you!

I graduated Dec 2012 from Texas Woman's University after doing my internship in juvenile detention. Much of my education focused on adolescent's and young adults, also the populations I mostly have worked with since graduation. I have worked with young children and their parents, teens, young adults, adults, and the geriatric population. I have worked in a juvenile prison, adolescent inpatient and outpatient, community counseling in people's homes, and private practice.

My approach to therapy

I start by building rapport, getting to know you; including the "good and the bad". I am passionate about the work I do, and I realize the strength and courage it takes to trust someone with your biggest struggles. I consider myself a client-centered therapist, which seeks to facilitate a client's self-actualizing tendency, "an inbuilt proclivity toward growth and fulfillment", via acceptance (unconditional positive regard), therapist congruence (genuineness), and empathic understanding.

What you can expect from me

I will encourage you to talk to me about the things you're struggling with, and we will work together to figure out how to move forward and cope with these things in a way that's healthy.
