Renay Burger

Hello--I'm Renay.

After studying and working as a child, relationship, and family therapist for the past 10 years, and a middle school and high school English teacher for the 10 years prior to that, I think it's safe to say that I've immersed myself into helping explore and rebuild the lives, stories, and social structures of humans for the whole of my professional career.

We are all storied people, and learning from our narratives can be one of the greatest lessons we ever learn. For many, embarking on that adventure is terrifying.

Consider me your docent into the uncomfortable and your guide along the journey.

I am eclectic in my approach to therapy--not all modalities suit all people. A new client can expect that I will take time to familiarize myself with their story, and from there, treatment can take a more individualized route.

Humans feel safer and think more clearly when they know what to expect. Because of that, in a first session, I will briefly review my policies and procedures for session and treatment in general.

Humans also feel safer if they sense that their unique perspective is valued. Because of that, I'll spend time getting to know what variables, from their perspective, compelled them to starting therapy and, similarly, what variables would incline them to continue the process.
