Great to meet you!

Rhema Bechthold, MS, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Supervisor in the state of Missouri. She is a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Practitioner and Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional who takes a holistic, heart-centered approach to therapy. Rhema primarily works with adults and trauma survivors, walking alongside clients as they learn to stay present, build healthy coping tools, and create lives that feel grounded, connected, and worth living.

With years of experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, Rhema understands how deeply the past can echo into the present — shaping emotions, relationships, and a person’s sense of self. She is passionate about helping clients find healing, self-compassion, and renewal through a gentle, trauma-informed process.

Rhema holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and has worked with people across diverse gender, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. She values authenticity, inclusion, and honoring each person’s unique story.

Rhema believes that, with support, people can discover strengths they never knew they had. Therapy with her is a space where clients are seen, supported, and invited to explore the parts of themselves that long to heal. Over time, the heaviness does not have to feel like an endless pit — and clients can move toward a sense of wholeness, acceptance, and meaning in their lives.

My approach to therapy

“Healing begins when you feel seen, safe, and supported. We'll be exploring distress tolerance skills, mindfulness, interpersonal skills and emotion regulation."

What you can expect from me

A large part of the first session is simply getting to know the person behind the symptoms. Rhema listens intently and asks thoughtful questions to help explore patterns, experiences, and connections that may be affecting the client’s current functioning and sense of well-being. Because she works from a trauma-informed perspective, clients are invited to share only what feels safe — there is no pressure to go deeper than they are ready for.

By the end of the session, clients typically have a sense of what therapy with Rhema will feel like, possible next steps, and the beginning of a supportive therapeutic relationship built on warmth, safety, and collaboration.
