I am Licensed Professional Counselor of 22 years specializing in individuals and couples that deal with anxiety, trauma and relationship issues. I have extensive knowledge working with Veterans, First Responders and those involved in mass violence. I believe more than anything that God wants us all to be healed from our past to better serve HIM & others. We all need someone that will listen, and need a safe place to learn without judgment.
My belief is that you are the expert of you, and that I bring into the mix a bag of tools to help you out on this journey. We start with what is going on in your current life and how you are dealing with it. From there we explore what is helpful and what is still a good part of you that you learned just to survive. Sometimes we're just not aware of how we keep responding and how its not working as well as it use to. Just know, it is not easy to travel down this road and your are not alone.
My job is to help you become aware of how it feels like we get stuck. Sometimes, it seems like we have the same argument over and over when in reality, it is the response. I bring into the session neuroscience and how the brain affects the body getting us dysregulated which leads to fight/flight/freeze and then we react the only way that makes sense; with anger, defensiveness, withdrawal, isolation or self protection just to name the few.
