Great to meet you!

What clients should know about me

I am a board-certified Stanford trained adult psychiatrist in practice for over 45 years. I provide compassionate, empathic and knowledge based care. Together, we will gain insight and knowledge about you and where your strengths and conflicts may be. Each person comes with a unique background and through this perspective, I will work with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. It is important to understand you as a whole person so that I can provide you with the most up-to-date treatment recommendations. My areas of specialty include mood disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship issues.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist who values careful listening, thoughtful evaluation, and a steady therapeutic relationship. I take my work seriously and approach treatment with respect for each person’s individuality, history, and lived experience.

I believe effective care is not rushed. I prioritize clarity, continuity, and collaboration, and I aim to create a calm, reliable space where patients can think, reflect, and speak openly. My style is engaged and attentive rather than directive, and I work to understand the underlying patterns shaping emotional distress—not just the surface symptoms.

I am mindful of the responsibility involved in psychiatric care. Whether through psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both, my goal is to support meaningful, lasting change while helping patients feel more grounded, self-aware, and capable in their lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care

I practice psychiatry and psychotherapy with the belief that meaningful change comes from understanding—not just managing—symptoms. My work is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to the individual rather than driven by a one-size-fits-all model.

I take time to understand each person’s history, inner world, relationships, and life context. Together, we explore patterns that may be contributing to distress while building insight, emotional resilience, and more effective ways of coping. I value a therapeutic relationship that is steady, respectful, and psychologically safe, as this forms the foundation for real and lasting change.

My approach integrates careful diagnostic evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and depth-oriented psychotherapy. When medication is part of treatment, it is used judiciously and thoughtfully, always in service of the broader therapeutic goals. I emphasize clarity, continuity, and personal meaning—helping patients better understand themselves so they can move forward with greater confidence and balance.

What you can expect from me

What clients can expect from their first session

The first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and to begin understanding what brings you to treatment. I will take time to listen carefully to your concerns, your history, and what you are hoping to gain from our work together. There is no pressure to have everything figured out or to share more than you feel ready to discuss.

We will talk about your current challenges, relevant background, and any prior experiences with therapy or medication. I may ask thoughtful questions to better understand patterns in your life, relationships, and emotional experiences. If appropriate, we will also discuss diagnostic impressions and possible treatment options.

Equally important, the first session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and whether my approach feels like a good fit for you. My goal is to create a calm, respectful, and psychologically safe space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as we begin.
