Great to meet you!
Hi! I’m Richard, but most of my clients call me Rick. At 66, I’m transitioning from a full-time career to a part-time practice (15–20 hours a week) to ensure I can offer my full attention to each client.
For nearly 20 years, I’ve walked alongside adults navigating the heavy weight of trauma, grief, PTSD, substance use, depression, and anger. I bring a deep sense of empathy and cultural competence to all my clients, including those with LGBTQIA+ concerns and faith-based issues. As I embrace my own advancing maturity, my passion has grown specifically toward supporting older adults and seniors navigating life transitions, grief, isolation, and complex trauma.
My clinical foundation rests on high-acuity experience: 15 years at a public mental health agency serving forensic populations, substance use groups, and anger management, plus part-time work in jails and prisons. For the last 6.5 years, I’ve delivered individual therapy via a blend of Telehealth and in-office sessions.
I am an open, affirming therapist welcoming clients from all walks of life, and I bring deep cultural competence and empathy. I focus on helping you navigate the universal challenges of aging, trauma recovery, and finding meaning in your next chapter.
I know reaching out can be daunting. I understand the fear of being vulnerable with someone you’ve just met, but my door is open to anyone ready to do the work. We’ll focus on making tangible progress, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and EMDR to create a plan that fits your unique needs.
