Great to meet you!

My goal for anyone entering into therapy with me is that we become partners in understanding your path to this point in your life and begin exploring ways to make the changes that will bring you to the place you would like to be. I try to bring a unique blend of warmth, humor, and caring directness to create an environment to safely explore what the barriers might be that are blocking the progress you are seeking. Over my past 25+ years of experience in working with a range of individuals with complex needs, I hope I could be the partner for change that you are seeking in therapy.

My approach to therapy

As a foundation of our work, I like to understand why now? What shifted things to make you do what can be the tough task of reaching out? I then ask to understand the family dynamics, the learning, the shaping of your patterns that came together into forming who you are as a person. I incorporate a range of theoretical backgrounds in this process- feeling rarely does any one modality meet the complexity of who we are as people.

What you can expect from me

First sessions are a mix of experiences- I get the opportunity to understand your background, your goals for therapy, and then we set our treatment plan. We will then identify some parameters about what we can expect from one another in this process of therapy. My hope is that you would walk away feeling heard, understood in a basic, initial way and that you would feel some relief in having started what will be a positive experience for you..
