Richard Rutherford

Hello! My name is Rich Rutherford, LCSW. My practice is RNR Counseling Services LCSW, PLLC located in West Seneca, NY. If you want evening appointments during the week, Monday through Thursday, please consider me. I have appointment hours from 6p-8p, Monday thru Thurs for both virtual and in-person sessions. I also have Saturday hours from 9a-1pm. I use mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, CBT and some elements of DBT with clients. I do individual sessions with people 12 and up. I will consider family sessions on a case-by-case basis. I will also consider working with children as young as 8 as well.

I provide in-person and virtual therapy in a quiet office setting. People are free to be themselves and therapy with me is strength-based. I believe all people have strengths and display resilience which helps in the therapeutic process. I believe clients are the experts in their own life and will work with clients to develop treatment goals that make sense to them. I have an inquisitive style and want clients to develop their own solutions. I have resources for clients to read and engage with in-between sessions. I also have some therapeutic activities for clients to do during sessions that will incorporate mindfulness to help clients.

Clients feel empowered after sessions with me. Clients are encouraged to try mindfulness techniques discussed in session. I am encouraging, warm and supportive. I believe people are experts in their own lives. People will discover strengths to use to minimize or eliminate the symptoms that brought them for counseling.
