Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Richard Salgado, and I LOVE my job! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who works with adolescents, college students, adults, and couples.

I help clients navigate anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, life transitions, and issues related to identity and self-worth, with a special interest in premarital and couples counseling. I believe counseling should be a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. Together, we work to build greater self-awareness, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative and tailored to each client's unique needs. I commonly draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions. I believe that every person has strengths they can build upon, and therapy should be both compassionate and practical.

As a bilingual therapist, I provide counseling in both English and Spanish. For clients who desire it, I am also able to thoughtfully integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process while respecting each individual's beliefs and goals.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to be honest, ask difficult questions, and explore your experiences without fear of criticism. Together, we'll identify goals that are meaningful to you, whether that's managing anxiety or depression, improving relationships, developing healthier coping skills, processing past experiences, or navigating life transitions. I believe therapy should provide both insight and practical tools that empower lasting change. My hope is that you'll leave each session with greater self-awareness, confidence, and the skills to continue growing long after therapy ends.
