Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Richard Steinberg, a psychologist in Boca Raton with 40+ years of experience, and I work from a whole-person understanding of emotional and physical well-being. I often work with adults—especially men—who are dealing with relationship strain, performance anxiety, erectile dysfunction, or the deeper stress patterns that can affect both confidence and connection. Over time, I’ve become especially interested in the way past experiences, emotional stress, and relationship dynamics can show up in the body and in day-to-day life. I consider it a privilege when someone trusts me with concerns that can feel private, frustrating, or hard to talk about, and I want therapy to feel like a place where you can speak openly, feel respected, and begin understanding what is really driving the problem.

My approach to therapy

My approach is thoughtful, analytical, and practical. I draw from psychodynamic psychotherapy, and interpersonal therapy, and I look closely at how stress, behavior patterns, relationship dynamics, and emotional strain may be shaping what you’re experiencing. Rather than stopping at surface-level symptom relief, I aim to help clients understand the deeper patterns underneath relationship distress, sexual concerns, and chronic stress so that change feels more lasting and meaningful. My hope is that therapy helps clients build self-awareness, reduce shame and anxiety, strengthen communication, and feel more grounded, resilient, and confident in both their emotional lives and their relationships.

What you can expect from me

We’ll start by turning down the outside noise and focusing on what feels heaviest for you right now. In the first session, I’ll want to understand both the immediate concern bringing you in and the broader context around it—your stress, relationships, history, and the patterns that may be shaping what you’re dealing with. You can expect a direct but respectful conversation, clear questions, and an early sense of where we may need to focus our work together.

In our first sessions, we'll explore questions like: What would healing or progress look like for you? What is bothering you the most? What changes would you hope to see in your life? These conversations help guide our work together and ensure therapy is focused on what matters most to you.
