Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Richard Turner, Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in the Mental Health field for over 15 years, in community settings, through public agencies, and with non-profit organizations. I have served a diverse population with a variety of needs. Mental Health is not just a career, its a passion. In therapy, I use a variety of techniques to help you achieve your goal. I believe that relationship is the best predictor of success. I aim to build a relationship with you that is genuine, authentic, warm, and reflective. Therapy is your time. I create an environment that is personal to you.

I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling and Mental Health. I also have a Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University.

My approach to therapy

Healing is a journey and change is a process. I focus on being present with you as you work to become your best you. I take a holistic approach, understanding the merger of mind, body, and soul in the decision to become a healthier you. I am person centered, focusing on your individual journey and needs. I know that you want to do more than just speak to a therapist, you want to speak to a person. I pride myself in being a person you can talk to. From men's issues, to day to day life issues, to problems faced by young and more seasoned adults, we will create a space for you to achieve your goals, find acceptance, and heal.

Our time is short and becoming the best you is not a mystery. I believe that each one of us already know the solution and have an idea of who we want to become. Getting there is where we need help; a nudge or reflection. I believe therapy should be designed to support your best area's and to strengthen the area's that need work. An objective view is good.

Your best you is attainable. Therapy is a great choice. You are an expert on yourself. Your insight and experience helps shape and mold your life. Sometimes we need help smoothing over the journey, figuring out what is next, and taking the first steps. Therapy is a good starting point to becoming the best you, healing the past, and securing your future.
