Great to meet you!

I became a therapist because a friend had a transphobic experience with a therapist, and I knew there was a better way to treat gender expansive people. I specialize in working with transgender, gender expansive, and queer/LGBTQIA+ folks and their partners, family, and friends. I primarily work with people on trauma/PTSD, substance use/abuse, gender and sexuality topics (e.g. gender dysphoria), internalized oppression, depression/anxiety, neurospiciness, and relationships of all types (family, partner(s), friends). I am trained in EMDR, a type of specialty therapy for trauma and other issues that feel “stuck”. I am also certified in addiction counseling. I focus on long-term depth-based psychotherapy, so my style works best for people ready to start (or start thinking about) working on long-term issues, behavioral or thought patterns, and/or trauma that is affecting their lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach tends to be laid-back, warm, and accepting. I work to support clients to improve their relationship with themselves and others. By collaborating with clients to find the balance between support and challenge in the therapeutic relationship, I find that we can work together to build trust, foster interpersonal skills, and establish a new narrative about relationships that’s transferable to clients’ lives day-to-day.

What you can expect from me

In a first session, I focus on getting to know each other. I usually seek to know more about what someone is wanting to work on in therapy, make some preliminary goals, and hear about that person's life and healing journey so far. You might also expect to hear the snoring of my three pugs in the background.
