Great to meet you!

Rob Koehl, LPC, in Cottonwood offers personalized support for a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Grounded in evidence-based practices and a client-centered approach, Running Bird Therapies focuses on empowering individuals to overcome obstacles, develop inner strength, and discover a path to greater well-being. What are you running from that keeps you from soaring?

A bit about my approach to therapy

Therapy starts with developing trust and safety. From there we explore coping strategies to identify and work with unhelpful thinking, managing emotions, and tolerating distress. Changing emotions that do not fit or are not helpful. Once skills are adequate, the client may choose to work on the wounds from the past.

What you can expect from our first session

If a client chooses to do the work, a client should expect to become more aware and focused, able to identify and regulate emotions, balancing acceptance and change. Understanding the chain of events that create anxiety, depression, and stress from trauma, a client can use the same tools that the client uses to create dis-ease to create more joy and a life worth living.
