Robert Brown

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia since December, 2002. I received my B.A. in Psychology and Theology from Oral Roberts University (Tulsa, OK) in 1990 and his M.A. in Psychology from Biola University (La Mirada, CA) in 1992. I completed a second M.A. in Psychological Services at Marymount University (Arlington, VA) in 1999. Since then, I have worked exclusively in the outpatient setting providing counseling from a Christian perspective to adults, adolescents, children (age 6 and older) and families. I began my private practice Healing Grace Counseling Services in July 2009, and I have been a participating counselor with New Life Ministries since 2003. I am a life-long resident of Virginia and lives in Winchester with my wife Stephanie and son Liam.

I see the counseling relationship as a collaborative partnership in which I assist clients in defining their issues and goals for treatment. My style is a blend of person-centered and solution-focused counseling, paying special attention to family history and interpersonal dynamics. My specialties are anxiety, depression, anger management, relationship issues, sexual brokenness, addiction, couples therapy and pastoral counseling,.

I generally see the initial session as an opportunity to form a connection with the client and gather relevant life history in order to understand a client's reasons for seeking therapy and help them define their goals for treatment.
