Great to meet you!

First and foremost, I enjoy meeting people, getting to know the way they think, making people comfortable, and then seeing how I can help or support. I enjoy seeing people grow through their challenges and find progress in their goals. I've spent much of my career working in psychiatric hospitals managing crisis, doing family and adolescent counseling, and have built several addiction counseling programs. I and am currently working as the Clinical Director for an addiction medical clinic, but looking at building up my private practice for more independence. I'm always up to learning something new as I meet new people, and am looking forward to seeing how I can help.

My approach to therapy

My training is originally in object relations psychodynamics, with a heavy study of broader philosophy, and over time I have adapted many of those ideas into very practical approaches. This means I like to balance personal introspection and analysis with broader understanding of similar experiences, helping people understand that they are not alone and that there are useful strategies toward working through many common problems. This often leads into goals and practical progress, working on repair and relationship building, and more than anything finding hope for the future and satisfaction in our strengths and ongoing accomplishments.

What you can expect from me

I want to get to know someone, find out what they are looking for in counseling, what their experience in therapy is like, and learn how they think about some of the challenges they are dealing with, and try to focus early on building hope for positive change, while setting a broader road-map on how to get there.
