Great to meet you!

Many interesting patient stories, valuable interactions and even my own personal experiences for sure, have helped me grow and develop tremendously as an effective therapist who feels comfortable navigating challenging and complex symptoms and situations. I also have lots of experience working professionally and growing up within the unique rural Appalachia cultural community. I'm a musician (with a degree), a human and pet parent, and enjoy neurons, pizza, people (obviously) & sleep!

A bit about my approach to therapy

With over 20 years in the mental health field, I've had many well-rounded clinical experiences. I'm integrative and flexible, as well as experiential with a strong learning-based treatment approach. I'm trauma-informed and have probably worked the most intensively in that treatment area. I grew up in a large family full of teachers, and know well how knowledge truly is a game changer when delivered and applied effectively. If therapy is easy, you aren't learning. If therapy is interesting, you are!

What you can expect from our first session

You'll be learning about you. A lot. Past, present, future. That's actually why this whole thing is going to work. You probably won't actually realize it's been like an hour when we talk, but probably will realize you learned new things between each session. Therapy can sometimes be mentally, emotionally and physically tiring, as well as energizing; but usually those are good signs of accomplishment! You know yourself the best, and are always in control of your treatment, and I respect that.
