Great to meet you!

Dr. Robert G. Moering is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years of experience providing evidence-based psychological assessment, treatment, consultation, and leadership across private practice, academic medicine, correctional settings, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at Florida Tech. Throughout his career, Dr. Moering has specialized in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness, with extensive expertise in military and veteran populations. His clinical practice emphasizes recovery-oriented care, integrated behavioral health, and the delivery of evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual’s needs.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Moering utilizes a recovery-oriented approach to therapy that emphasizes hope, resilience, and each individual’s strengths while recognizing that recovery is a highly personal journey. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, treatment is centered on helping clients build meaningful, satisfying lives consistent with their values and goals. He works collaboratively with clients to foster self-determination, enhance coping skills, strengthen relationships, and promote independence using evidence-based interventions. This approach recognizes that recovery is possible even in the presence of ongoing mental health challenges and empowers individuals to take an active role in their treatment. Dr. Moering is committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care that respects each client’s unique experiences, cultural background, and definition of recovery.

What you can expect from me

The first therapy session is designed to establish a comfortable, supportive environment where we can begin getting to know one another and develop a shared understanding of your concerns, strengths, and goals. During this session, we will review your history, discuss the challenges that brought you to therapy, and identify the areas of your life you would like to improve. Together, we will develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects your values, priorities, and desired outcomes while identifying evidence-based approaches that best fit your needs. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss expectations for therapy, and determine whether our therapeutic approach feels like a good fit. My goal is for you to leave the first session with greater clarity, a sense of hope, and a collaborative plan for moving forward.
