Great to meet you!

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have provided both psychiatric medication management and therapeutic support for individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges. My work has focused on helping patients better understand their symptoms and develop effective, individualized treatment plans that support long-term stability and improved quality of life.

Areas of Specialization

I specialize in treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and mood disorders. I also have extensive experience working with substance use disorders (SUD), ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, and gender dysphoria, among many other mental health concerns. My approach is comprehensive and patient-centered, ensuring that each person receives care tailored to their unique experiences, needs, and goals.

Military Service

I proudly served in the United States Navy for 29 years, where I had the privilege of providing mental health care to active duty service members and their families. That experience gave me a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by military communities, including the stressors related to service, deployment, and transition to civilian life.

Current Practice

Today, I provide psychiatric care to adolescents and adults ages 13 and older. My clinical experience spans multiple settings, including tele-psychiatry, crisis intervention, outpatient care, and inpatient environments. I work with individuals experiencing a broad range of psychiatric and substance use concerns, and I remain committed to helping my patients achieve meaningful progress in their mental health and overall well-being.

My approach to therapy

Mental illnesses are complex conditions that arise from a variety of biological factors, including genetics, chemical imbalances in the brain, and changes in brain structure or function. Recognizing how these biological elements contribute to mental health challenges is important for effective treatment and recovery.

Psychiatric medications play a key role in managing the symptoms of mental illness by targeting underlying biological mechanisms. These medications can help restore balance to neurotransmitters in the brain, alleviate distressing symptoms, and support overall well-being. By understanding the science behind mental illness and how medications work, patients and providers can make informed decisions about treatment options.

What you can expect from me

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

A complete and thorough psychiatric evaluation is conducted to determine the nature and extent of a patient’s mental health concerns. This assessment involves gathering detailed information about the individual’s symptoms, medical history, and psychosocial factors. The goal is to gain a clear understanding of the patient’s condition, which serves as the foundation for developing an effective and personalized treatment plan. Through this careful evaluation, clinicians can identify specific needs and recommend appropriate interventions to support the patient’s mental well-being.
