Great to meet you!

I understand that emotional pain can be temporary—triggered by life stressors that create anxiety and depression—but it can also stem from past trauma, long-standing issues, or internal physiological factors that lead to prolonged suffering. I've been a licensed psychologist since 1990 and have worked with thousands of individuals, helping them navigate interpersonal conflicts, life transitions, depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, bipolar-related disorders, and relationship challenges. I also struggled with certain aspects of life before my professional training, and I benefited from the same type of help I now offer. I greatly enjoy time with my wife, four adult children (two are also psychotherapists), and my young grandchildren—who currently think I'm pretty great at making soap bubbles.

My approach to therapy

My job is to listen very carefully and accompany you as we uncover the sources of your pain and the patterns of beliefs that need correction. Therapy is about discovering strategies that allow change to occur—a thoughtful combination of reorganizing thoughts and engaging in behaviors that are incompatible with anxiety, depression, or other unwelcome emotions. Metaphorically, we "dance" together until your new songs become "muscle memory." I experience great professional satisfaction when I see my clients make meaningful gains.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we'll begin identifying the source and nature of your psychological suffering, which is helpful for recovery. We'll start exploring the patterns and strategies that will support your healing. My focus is on creating a collaborative space where we work together toward your goals.
