Great to meet you!

I’m Robin, a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Supervisor in Ohio and the founder of The Unraveling Room Therapy. I earned my Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University and my Bachelor of Social Work from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. I bring more than 26 years of experience in community mental health, crisis intervention, and hospital care.

I currently work full time in a hospital-based specialty psychiatric practice while also seeing clients through The Unraveling Room Therapy.

I specialize in personality disorders and work with adults navigating anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and overwhelming emotions. I also have extensive experience supporting people living with chronic illness, chronic pain, and complex medical conditions.

I’m warm, direct, and involved. I’m not a quiet therapist—I ask questions, notice patterns, make connections, and gently challenge what may be keeping you stuck. There’s room for humor, anger, tears, and hard conversations. If you don’t like something I say, tell me. If I’ve misunderstood you, I want to know. You can disagree with me; your voice matters here.

I combine cognitive behavioral strategies with relational and depth-oriented therapy, shaping our work around your needs. Complicated doesn’t scare me. Bring the whole story—even the parts that contradict each other. You don’t need the right words or a neatly organized story. We can begin wherever you are and work toward greater understanding, meaningful change, and a life that feels more like your own.

My approach to therapy

In our sessions, we’ll pay attention to what happens when emotions take over, relationships become painful, or the same struggles keep showing up. I’ll help you slow those moments down, understand what’s happening, and practice different ways of responding.

Some sessions will focus on practical skills—setting boundaries, managing overwhelming feelings, or having a difficult conversation. Others will explore older experiences and beliefs that still influence how you see yourself and what you expect from others. I draw from cognitive behavioral, DBT, relational, and depth-oriented approaches, depending on what helps you.

My particular focus is severe mental healh issues, personality disorders, emotional regulation, trauma, and relationship patterns. I also work with the emotional impact of chronic illness and pain, including grief, changes in identity, and feeling misunderstood.

I ask questions and offer honest feedback, and I welcome yours. If an approach isn’t helping or I’ve misunderstood something, we’ll talk about it and adjust. Your goals guide our work.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what brought you to therapy. Believe me, you won’t have trouble talking to me. I ask questions, keep the conversation going, and help you find a place to start.

We’ll talk about what’s been difficult, what you’d like to change, and what has or hasn’t helped before. You don’t have to share everything at once or tell your story in order. There’s room to be nervous, ramble, laugh, or take a moment.

You’ll also get a feel for me and how I work. Ask questions, tell me what you need, and let me know if I’ve misunderstood something. We’ll begin figuring out our next steps together.
