Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Adelphi University; I also hold an M.A. in Humanities and Social Thought from New York University and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. I have worked for over 5 years as a therapist in a college counseling service; I love working with the college-age population and some of my areas of specialization are anxiety, grief, relationship and family concerns, and working with survivors of abuse. I have specialized training in numerous therapeutic interventions, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness. I am a Certified Grief Counselor (GC-C) via the American Institute of Health Care Professionals and a 300-hour certified Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator (TCTSY-F).

My approach to therapy

I utilize a strengths-based, individualized and relational approach to therapy that integrates psychodynamic theory and systems theory alongside behavioral and somatic interventions. I provide trauma-informed care to my clients, meaning our work together centers on an individual's agency and ability to make choices for themselves.

What you can expect from me

In a first session, we will discuss what led you to make an appointment, and what your goals and hopes are from therapy. I will ask some questions about your history and past experiences that will help me get to know you and help us start to collaborate on how we can best work together. I believe therapy is most effective when treatment is tailored and individualized based on the whole person, which includes but is not limited to someone's presenting concern and/or diagnosis.
