Great to meet you!

I'm Robyn Richardson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a wide range of life challenges. I specialize in trauma, and I've spent much of my career walking alongside survivors — children who've experienced abuse, individuals navigating addiction and recovery, birth mothers in the midst of one of the hardest decisions of their lives, and families working to heal from complex, generational pain. I believe that every person I sit with has strengths worth building on, and I work hard to see and name those strengths from the very beginning.

I've worked with people from a wide variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and I take seriously the responsibility of providing care that is respectful, culturally responsive, and truly individualized. My work isn't one-size-fits-all — it's shaped around you, your story, and your goals.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and deeply person-centered. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you — not to tell you who to be or what to do, but to help you access your own clarity, resilience, and capacity for change.

My ideal clients are people who have been carrying something heavy and are finally ready to talk it out. Many of the people I work with have experienced trauma, whether that's childhood abuse, neglect, loss, or the quieter, slower wounds that don't always have a name. Others come in navigating the weight of addiction and recovery, the grief of a broken family system, or the exhaustion of trying to hold everything together while falling apart on the inside. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and I have a deep passion for working with those who've felt unseen, unheard, or let down.

I also believe healing doesn't happen in isolation. When appropriate, I incorporate family systems and community supports into the work, because I've seen firsthand how much those connections matter to lasting change.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other — and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible from the moment we begin. You can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where there's no pressure to share more than you're ready to.

I'll ask questions to understand what brought you to therapy, what's been hard lately, and what you're hoping life looks like on the other side of this work. I'll also want to hear about your strengths — what's helped you cope, who's in your corner, and what's worked for you in the past. Together, we'll start sketching out what our work together might look like and what goals feel most meaningful to you.

By the end of the first session, my hope is that you leave feeling genuinely heard, a little more hopeful, and clear that this is a safe place to do the real work.
