Great to meet you!

I began my counseling career working with individuals experiencing substance abuse and legal problems 1991. This experience propelled my desire to become a clinical social worker. I earned a masters degree in social work in 1998 and have been a licensed clinical social worker since 2004.Over the past 21 years I have had the satisfaction and pleasure of counseling men, women, children, families and groups ranging in ages from 9 to 90 years old. They have been from Caucasian, African-American, Asian-Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern and Hispanic races and cultures. I have worked with people in various stages of their lives. I have provided counseling in community and mental health clinics, military installations and the Department of Veterans Affair’s Readjustment Counseling Service. Since 2021 I have worked as a contractor, both telehealth and in person. Most of my career has been in outpatient environments.

My approach to therapy

Biography:My counseling approach is rooted in client-centered psychotherapy. Counseling is a collaboration between client and counselor. You, the client are the ultimate authority in your life. I am grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness, cognitive/behavioral therapies, internal family systems, EMDR, Relational Life Therapy and psychoeducational and mind/body techniques. I will work with you to tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

What you can expect from me

Most clients that I work with report they feel "heard" and "understood" after seeing me. Their awareness of themselves also increases. For many of them, their sense of self esteem increases. I have been told that my clients often feel "tired in a good way".
