Great to meet you!

A lot of people who reach out for therapy are used to holding things together on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, emotionally exhausted, or stuck underneath it all.

They overthink decisions, carry pressure constantly, struggle to slow their mind down, or notice they keep repeating patterns they already understand but still cannot seem to change.

I’m Ron Henson, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and owner of In Situ Counseling & Coaching. My practice helps adults navigate anxiety, burnout, ADHD-related challenges, relationship stress, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and high-functioning internal pressure through virtual therapy that is collaborative, grounded, and focused on helping things actually make sense in context.

My approach to therapy

My approach is rooted in Reality Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy while also drawing from CBT, DBT, attachment-based work, and emotionally focused approaches when helpful. Therapy with me is not about judgment or pretending you are broken. It is about understanding what is happening beneath the surface, identifying the patterns that keep pulling you back into the same places, and helping you respond differently in ways that feel realistic and sustainable. Forward in a way that aligns with what you actually want.

What you can expect from me

The first session is usually less formal than people expect. We focus on understanding what has been weighing on you, how you have been trying to manage it, what feels stuck, and what you hope starts feeling different.

Over time, many clients begin feeling more emotionally grounded, more present in their relationships, more clear about themselves, and less consumed by the constant pressure to keep holding everything together alone.

I have worked in mental health for more than 5 years across university counseling, higher acuity settings, outreach, supervision, and private practice. I also care deeply about creating a therapy space that feels human, thoughtful, and emotionally honest.

In Situ Counseling & Coaching offers virtual therapy for adults in Illinois, including evenings and weekends.
