Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing psychotherapy to adults in New York. I specialize primarily in depression, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, crisis management, grief, and self-esteem issues. As a queer-identified clinician, I also possess extensive training and specialization in LGBTQ+ issues, including but not limited to gay men’s issues, gender diversity, consensual non-monogamy, and polyamory.

I hold a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College Columbia University and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Prior to a career in therapy, I worked in nonprofit and educational settings managing creative arts programs, so I also take great pleasure in helping clients immersed in creative professions and endeavors.

My approach to therapy

I take an integrative approach to therapy that is collaborative, affirming, and personalized. I utilize several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy. I scale our work to you— it may take the form of brief solution-oriented work revolving around a specific issue or circumstance, or deeper long-term work where more clinical depth is warranted, such as grief, major life transitions, or long-standing interpersonal struggles.

What you can expect from me

Our first session together will focus on understanding what’s brought you to therapy, what you would like to get out of it, and how I can help you accomplish that. My main goal is to hear you accurately and nonjudgmentally and create more clarity for your next steps forward. From there, we’ll work on understanding your personal history so I can better understand your challenges in the present moment. Beyond that, our work will mostly consist of me reflecting back what I’m hearing from you, pointing out noteworthy patterns where I have been trained to see them, and helping you identify where change may be needed in your life; as well as tools you can use to start making those changes.
