Great to meet you!

If you've been pushing through each day on autopilot — managing stress, numbing out, or wondering why you still feel stuck despite doing "all the right things" — I get it. That exhaustion is real, and it makes sense.

I'm Rovin Chonielall, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 15 years of experience helping adults break cycles of addiction, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. I don't do surface-level work. My clients come to me when they're ready to sit with the hard stuff — the feelings they've been avoiding, the patterns they can't seem to shake — and do something meaningful with them.

Whether you're navigating recovery, processing trauma, or simply trying to feel like yourself again, I'll meet you exactly where you are.

My approach to therapy

I lean heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing — two approaches that give you real, usable tools between sessions, not just insight on the couch. For clients dealing with trauma, I integrate Trauma-Focused CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you process what happened without being defined by it.

But techniques only work inside a relationship that feels safe. So before any of that, I focus on one thing: making sure you actually feel comfortable in the room with me. I'm direct, I'm engaged, and I don't hide behind clinical distance. You'll know I'm paying attention.

I work best with adults navigating addiction recovery, anxiety, emotional regulation, and major life transitions — especially people who have tried therapy before and want something that goes deeper this time.

What you can expect from me

Here's what it looks like in practice. I'll tell you a bit about how I work so there are no surprises. Then you'll have the space to share what's going on — as much or as little as you're comfortable with. There's no pressure to have your story perfectly organized; most people don't, and that's completely fine.

We'll talk through confidentiality so you know exactly what stays in the room. And before we wrap up, we'll sketch out a loose plan together — what we'll focus on, what methods might help, and how often we'll meet. You'll leave with a clear sense of direction, not a homework assignment.
