Great to meet you!

I hold a strong foundation of advanced academic preparation in social work and behavioral health. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Services/Psychology from the University of Hartford, followed by a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Policy & Planning from the University of Connecticut. I then pursued doctoral-level psychoanalytical training at The Institute for Clinical Social Work and currently, I am a DSW Candidate at Barry University. This reflects my sustained commitment to scholarly pursuit and professional excellence in the field of Mental Health.

I provide individual and family therapy to a diverse range of individuals experiencing all forms of mental illness. My core focus is on the development of an individual's internal structure, the reprogramming of maladaptive patterns, and the cultivation of effective living skills. The modalities utilized throughout this process include Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, TF-CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Hypnotherapy, cultural awareness, psychoanalysis/narrative work, bodywork, and Zen meditation techniques. Imagery and visualization exercises are also incorporated as complementary tools within the therapeutic process.

My approach to therapy

In the therapeutic relationship, I often focus on several factors that may affect symptom reduction, including the individual’s relational patterns, readiness for change, participation in sessions, and reported daily functioning. I am aware that clients often reenact familiar interpersonal patterns in therapy through avoidance, testing, or resistant behavior. However, discussing these surfaced relational patterns in session can sometimes reduce the risk of clients dropping out of treatment. When clients are helped to understand these behavioral patterns as part of the healing process, they may be more likely to feel understood and seen. Healing is not linear, allowing reenacted behaviors to emerge in therapy can increase the likelihood that clients will develop greater feeling of acceptance, reflection, and integration. I believe this reflects a more trauma-informed approach.

What you can expect from me

At the onset of the therapeutic relationship, I often work with the client to develop a simple treatment plan that includes the client’s stated goals and objectives. This plan helps determine whether treatment adjustments are needed as we work together. In collaboration with the client, I assess whether they remain aligned with their original goals. Together, we explore whether these goals are meaningful and realistic - whether the client is pacing themselves rather than rushing to avoid discomfort. I examine the therapeutic alliance for misalignment in the relationship that may be affecting progress.
