Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm so happy you found me! I'm Roxann, owner/psychotherapist at Birch Grove Family Therapy. I have a master's degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Wisconsin. I also completed a predoctoral fellowship in Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in Human Services providing support to children and families.

As a parent myself, and a former Parent Educator, I have a special passion for working with children and families with early attachment concerns, teaching emotional regulation, supporting healthy development and navigating parent-child relationships. You're never too young, or old, to learn about your emotions!

Working as a Clinical Social Worker in a psychiatric inpatient hospital, and as a therapist for an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), has also shown me the importance of continuing care after an in-patient stay or other intensive programming. I offer support as you, or your loved one, transition from intensive treatment to outpatient care. I focus on maintaining progress, addressing ongoing thoughts of suicide and/or self-harm, strengthening coping skills, and building lasting stability in everyday life.

My approach to therapy

There's no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods, including trauma-informed and cognitive-behavioral approaches, to support each client in a way that fits their needs. Some sessions may focus on skill building while others create space to process and deepen understanding. With my younger clients, play is a very important component in my approach. My priority is providing the support you need to feel heard and understood. My work is grounded in strengthening connections and restoring a sense of stability during seasons that may feel overwhelming or uncertain.

What you can expect from me

Birch Grove Family Therapy ensures a confidential & supportive environment where you can explore your feelings freely. I offer virtual sessions throughout Wisconsin and offer in-home therapy on a case-by-case basis for families with young children and certain crisis situations. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to ensure I'm a good fit for you and your family.

Clients come to therapy for many different reasons, and I support a wide range of experiences and concerns. In addition to my core specialties, I work with individuals and families facing anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions and relationship challenges. I also support women and their partners during the perinatal period including fertility issues, pregnancy loss, and adjusting to parenthood.
