Great to meet you!

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Ruben Garcia believes that effective mental health care begins with listening. Ruben's goal is to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and empowered in your personal healing process.

At Renovo Counseling Services, we provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy while taking time to understand and treat the whole person. You are more than a diagnosis.

Ruben works with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, couples, and families experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, trauma, grief, sleep concerns, and stress-related conditions. Ruben can provide care in both English and Spanish and he strives to make treatment collaborative, practical, and individualized to each person's unique goals and values.

For clients who desire it, Ruben can offer faith-integrated psychiatric care from a Catholic-Christian perspective as emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being can work together to support sustainable healing.

Ruben holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Walden University and is licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of California with almost two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse. At Renovo Counseling Services, Ruben works collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team and receives ongoing psychotherapy mentorship from our Clinical Director to continue strengthening his ability to integrate evidence-based psychotherapy with high-quality psychiatric medication management.

My approach to therapy

Ruben Garcia's approach is grounded in compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based practice. Ruben maintains a commitment in the belief that every person possesses inherent dignity and strengths that can serve as a foundation for healing, even in the midst of the most difficult seasons. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Ruben seeks to understand the biological, psychological, social, environmental, and spiritual factors that influence mental health.

Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, strength-based interventions, solution-focused strategies, and practical coping skills that can be applied in everyday life.

For clients seeking Catholic-Christian faith-integrated care, your beliefs and values can be integrated into treatment while maintaining evidence-based psychiatric practice. Ruben strives to facilitate a process in which patients receive experience meaningful symptom relief, improved functioning, and greater peace while honoring what matters most to them.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is an opportunity for Ruben to understand your needs and begin building a treatment plan that is tailored to you. You will have the time to discuss your current concerns, personal history, medical and mental health background, strengths, goals, and any questions you may have about treatment.

If medication is appropriate, we will review options together because it is important that you make informed decisions about your care. Lifestyle factors, coping strategies, and psychotherapy recommendations may be discussed with the ultimate goal of supporting your overall well-being.
