Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ruby Cervantes, a Licensed Professional Counselor who helps adults and couples navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. I specialize in trauma/PTSD, life transitions, and helping clients stay present and connected. Using a compassionate, whole-body approach—including somatic work, Polyvagal Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, EMDR, and mindfulness—I support clients in uncovering root causes, building resilience, and healing. I offer virtual sessions in English and Spanish.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, integrative, and rooted in the belief that healing occurs when both the mind and body are supported. I work with adults to address trauma, PTSD, and life transitions by helping clients build safety within their nervous system and deepen awareness of their internal experiences.

I integrate Polyvagal-informed therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support nervous system regulation, increase self-compassion, and help clients understand and heal the parts of themselves shaped by past experiences. Somatic interventions are used to foster embodiment and presence, allowing clients to reconnect with their bodies as sources of insight and resilience.

In addition, I incorporate evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices to address negative thought patterns, process traumatic memories, and strengthen emotional regulation. Treatment is collaborative and individualized, honoring each client’s pace while focusing on sustainable, meaningful change.

My goal is to empower clients to feel grounded, resilient, and capable of living with greater clarity, balance, and connection.

What you can expect from me

The first therapy session is focused on building rapport and creating a safe, supportive space where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We’ll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brings you to therapy, and exploring your goals for treatment. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and gain a better understanding of how therapy works.

We will review important policies, guidelines, and confidentiality to ensure transparency and clarity about the therapeutic process. Together, we’ll begin to identify areas of focus and outline next steps, while honoring your readiness and comfort level. There is no pressure to share everything right away—the goal of the first session is connection, understanding, and setting a strong foundation for future work.
