Great to meet you!

My name is Ruth Cook and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from Fleming Island, FL. I graduated from the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology. I have 29 years of experience with 6 years in private practice and 23 years in hospice care. I work with adults and provide care for patients who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationships and loss. I have extensive experience in dealing with loss: loss of a job, loss of a relationship or loss of a loved one.

My approach to therapy

My treatment approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral and Eclectic theories. Each client is a unique individual and will require a different approach. In the first session we will talk about what brought you here for counseling today and you will set a few goals to work on. In the second session we will explore your history and what is going on in your life today. My wish is that all my clients will be able to achieve their goals in a safe and accepting atmosphere.

What you can expect from me

Clients are usually learning new things about themselves in each session. They are also learning how to achieve their goals. Growth is taking place and it is always exciting to take those next steps. At the end of the therapy sessions you will have gained insight into your unique situation and will probably be very proud of yourself for all the hard work you have done,
