Great to meet you!

Hey! I'm Ryan. My practice is "Crying with Ryan." No crying required, it's just a silly name.

I help adult men increase emotional health and improve relationship skills so they can connect more deeply with the people they love.

Some specific things I enjoy working with:

  1. Becoming a dad, being a dad, postpartum, supporting wife through pregnancy and postpartum, infertility, loss
  2. Dealing with a complicated relationship with your dad or grieving the death of dad
  3. Men in relationships who want to be more emotionally available and communicate better with their partner

Lots of men come to therapy experiencing things like...

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Overwhelm
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Unwanted behaviors
  • Relationship distress
  • Work/life imbalance

Therapy can help.

Don't buy into the culture's B.S. about being a man. It takes a lot of strength to open up, try something new, talk about your emotions, and work on your relationships. I'd be excited to meet you and help in any way I can.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Down to earth, humble, honest. I'm just another human trying to figure this life thing out. And I hope this approach produces a strong, caring, safe relationship for us to work together effectively. “What really works in therapy is a real person connecting to a real person.” — Mary Pipher

Practical, solution focused, resources. I offer resources when appropriate. I don't want to overdo it and just be a "vending machine" of ideas and resources. But I know they can be valuable.

Direct, honest, challenging. I want to listen really well and help you feel seen and known. But I also am not afraid to speak up, push back, offer a different perspective, challenge when helpful.

What you can expect from our first session

Presence. Awareness of self, story, emotions, relationship dynamics. Getting stress and wounds out of the way so you can be more mindful and present and live in line with your values.

Resources. I hope you feel equipped to continue chewing on whatever feels important and dig deeper when you're ready.

Connection. Feeling seen, known, cared for, understood, supported by some random dude who is completely outside of your normal life. Feeling more connected to yourself, to humanity, to the important relationships in your life, to God, to whatever.
