Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Ryan Forbes, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University (2003) and a Master's degree from Asbury Theological Seminary (2008). My practice primarily focuses on working with adults and older teens, helping them navigate life’s challenges and find balance.

I think that strong marriages and strong families are the bedrock of society. If you are struggling to be the best person you can be for your spouse or your family I would love to help.

Beyond my professional qualifications, I bring real-world experience to my work. I’ve been happily married for 26 years and am the proud parent of four wonderful children, which has enriched my understanding of the complexities of family dynamics and personal growth.

My approach to therapy

I view therapy as a collaborative journey that hinges on trust and mutual respect. At its core, therapy is a relational process, where the therapeutic connection fosters growth and understanding. I approach counseling through both a philosophical and theological lens, believing that individuals often already possess the insight needed to improve their lives. My role is to offer guidance, reflection, and a supportive environment that empowers clients to tap into their own wisdom and make meaningful changes.

What you can expect from me

Sessions with me are calm, conversational but still maintaining the therapeutic intensity needed for growth. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable and respected, free from jargon or judgment. Our time together will begin with gathering some background information and setting clear goals around what you’d like to work on. We’ll explore what approaches you've tried, what’s worked, and where we can make adjustments to help you move forward.

I am flexible in my approach, being as directive as needed, but also relaxed when that’s what best supports your process. Above all, I believe that whatever is on your mind is an opportunity for growth, and I am here to help you navigate that journey.
