Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ryan! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an academic. I’ve worked extensively with therapy clients who are actively pursuing highly specialized training and completing high-stakes projects (e.g., dissertations, books, films). I’m particularly adept at helping people who struggle in social situations, and those who experience procrastination and perfectionism.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is integrated yet grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)--specifically, forms of CBT that address psychological struggles using mindfulness. My approach is also informed by person-centered therapy and work I’ve done using a brief psychodynamic approach. I’ve found that it can be helpful to identify unhelpful patterns while also highlighting my clients’ unique strengths.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together I like to get a better sense of what is bringing you to therapy now, when the problem started, and what seems to make it better or worse. Additionally, I want to develop an understanding of the broader context of your life and identity. This roadmap can give us a sense of areas to focus on in treatment. Most of all, I want to get a sense of how you feel about working with me as your therapist.
