Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Saby Kirpal, a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner committed to comprehensive, compassionate mental health care across the lifespan. I earned my Master's degrees from Walden University and Chamberlain University, graduating with Presidential Honors from both programs, reflecting my dedication to clinical excellence and lifelong learning. My professional journey spans diverse healthcare settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, residential treatment facilities, and community health centers, providing a well-rounded, real-world perspective on mental health treatment and recovery.

I specialize in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders, substance use disorders, and complex psychiatric conditions. I have extensive experience working with children as young as eight, adolescents, and adults across levels of care—from acute crisis stabilization to long-term outpatient medication management. My background includes serving as Associate Director of Nursing at Sierra Health and Wellness, providing clinical leadership across five facilities, and working with institutions such as UCSF Health and Stanford Health Care.

What sets me apart is my holistic approach, combining a strong nursing foundation with advanced psychiatric training. I recognize that mental health is deeply connected to physical health, family dynamics, culture, and life circumstances. I'm trilingual in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, with working knowledge of Spanish, allowing me to serve diverse communities. I believe in meeting individuals where they are and building a genuine therapeutic partnership where you feel heard, respected, and empowered on your path to wellness and recovery with personalized, evidence-based strategies, continuous guidance, and compassionate care that supports your wellbeing.

My approach to therapy

I combine clinical proficiency with heartfelt compassion, understanding that the strongest results emerge when evidence-based medicine is paired with genuine human connection and trust. My commitment is to provide treatment that respects your dignity, upholds your autonomy, and guides your path toward improved mental health with both expertise and empathy at every turn.

I recognize that psychiatric challenges can affect every area of your life, and I am devoted to helping you regain stability where symptoms have created disruption and difficulty. I foster a space where you can share openly and honestly, free from any concern about judgment throughout our time together.

In medication management, I believe in dedicating the time necessary to provide careful, personalized care tailored to your situation. I build a thorough understanding of your mental health history, present symptoms, past treatments, and wellness objectives that matter most to you. I discuss medication options thoughtfully — explaining how each one operates, what improvements to anticipate, realistic timelines for progress, and any potential side effects worth monitoring.

Quality psychiatric care demands ongoing evaluation, transparent communication, and a genuine readiness to adjust based on what you are experiencing. I monitor your response attentively, check in regularly about how you are feeling, and remain flexible in refining your treatment plan as your needs evolve throughout our partnership.

I practice holistic psychiatric care, looking at the whole person beyond medications alone — considering sleep habits, stress management, relationships, and daily routines, because every dimension of your life matters to me and shapes the care we build together.

I am here to walk beside you with steadfast dedication and belief in your capacity for healing. I look forward to being a trusted partner in your path toward lasting wellness and fulfillment.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, expect to feel truly seen and understood. I'll establish a comfortable atmosphere where you can speak freely about your mental health concerns without hesitation or worry.

We'll start with your story—what has been happening, how long you've been struggling, and what led you to seek care now. We'll examine your symptoms in detail, looking at how they present, when they intensify, what triggers them, and how they influence your daily life, relationships, and work. I'll gather a thorough history, asking about previous diagnoses, past treatment experiences, medications you've used, and their outcomes. Taking time to understand your complete background lets me approach your care with the precision and thoughtfulness it warrants.

We'll also assess your physical health, current prescriptions, family psychiatric history, substance use, and significant life stressors that may affect your wellness.

With medication management, I'll maintain openness and collaboration at every step. I'll walk you through medication options—how they work, expected benefits, possible side effects, and realistic timelines for noticing improvement. We'll address any concerns or hesitations with candor and care. Those feelings are completely normal, and I'll clarify common misunderstandings with straightforward, compassionate explanations. You'll never be rushed into a decision, and your comfort will always guide the pace of our work together.

We'll also discuss supportive strategies, including lifestyle modifications and stress reduction techniques that complement your treatment plan.

By the end of our visit, you'll have a clear, personalized treatment plan and the assurance of a dedicated provider genuinely committed to your well-being—with unwavering support and steadfast belief in your capacity for healing. Whether this is your first time seeking care or you're transitioning from another provider, I'll meet you where you are.
