Sade Arzu

I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist in the state of New York. I maintain a private practice in West Harlem, New York. My practice is rooted on a psychodynamic approach--assisting the client in gaining a perspective of pure insight in order to recognize the character, traits, actions, responses, and behaviors that will be transformed. I have a specialty in treating adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse through a psychodynamic approach. I also specialize in adolescent issues.

As a multilingual therapist fluent in Spanish and French, I incorporate greater awareness of my clients' culture into my theory and practice by acknowledging cultural diversity, appreciating the value of the culture and using it in process, and having the ability to connect emotionally with my client's cultural perspective.

I'm passionate about helping others to establish goals, connect to community resources, manage crises, and develop sustainable life skills. One of my beliefs about therapy is that individuals are the “experts” of their own lives, and I seek to live this belief by helping individuals identify internal resources and claim their own preferences and values. My role as a clinician is that of collaborator and guide, as I hope to empower my clients to take responsibility for themselves and their lives.
