Great to meet you!

I'm Saima Hanif, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing evidence-based psychiatric care across the lifespan. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Western University of Health Sciences and completed my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate at California State University, Los Angeles. I am currently furthering my education as I pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at California State University, Los Angeles, reflecting my ongoing commitment to growth and excellence in this field.

I work with patients ages 10 and older, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, of all genders. My background is rooted in outpatient psychiatry, where I have developed strong experience conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and providing thoughtful, individualized medication management.

I have particular expertise in treating ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD and trauma-related disorders, insomnia and sleep-related concerns, OCD, autism spectrum disorder, and bipolar disorder, along with a range of other mental health concerns. Whether someone is navigating a new diagnosis or managing a condition they have lived with for years, I bring both clinical knowledge and genuine compassion to our work together.

I believe in collaborative treatment planning, meaning your voice and preferences remain central to every decision we make. I take time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, discuss the reasoning behind my recommendations, and ensure you feel informed and empowered throughout the process. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, but is equally shaped by curiosity about who you are as a person, not simply the symptoms that brought you to seek support.

I am committed to delivering patient-centered care that respects your individuality, values your input, and adapts as your needs evolve.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is rooted in evidence-based practice, genuine compassion, and a deep respect for you as a whole person rather than simply a diagnosis. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring clinical expertise across the lifespan, working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma-related conditions, and other mental health concerns.

I believe meaningful care starts with truly understanding your unique story, history, and goals. During our appointments, I conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations that look beyond your symptoms to the fuller context of your life, including your relationships, daily functioning, and what matters most to you. This thorough understanding allows me to provide medication management that is genuinely individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.

Collaboration is central to everything I do. I explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear, accessible language, openly discuss the reasoning behind my recommendations, and make sure you have the information you need to make confident, informed decisions about your care. Your preferences, concerns, and lived experience actively shape the plan we build together.

I recognize that finding the right treatment approach sometimes takes patience and thoughtful adjustment. I remain closely engaged throughout that process, monitoring your progress, welcoming your feedback, and refining our approach as your needs change over time.

My educational background reflects my ongoing commitment to staying current with the highest standards of psychiatric care.

Ultimately, my goal is to offer compassionate, patient-centered support that helps you achieve meaningful symptom relief and an improved quality of life, delivered with both clinical skill and authentic care for your wellbeing. Your healing truly matters, and so do you, always.

What you can expect from me

During your initial appointment, anticipate a comprehensive, warm experience focused on genuinely understanding you. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner serving individuals across all age groups, from young children to adults, I invest genuine time exploring your specific history, current concerns, and personal goals before establishing any treatment decisions together.

We'll commence with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation examining your present symptoms, when they initially emerged, and their influence on your daily functioning, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Whether you're navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma, or other psychological challenges, I prioritize understanding your experience through your own perspective rather than reducing it to a mere checklist.

We'll explore your psychiatric history together, encompassing previous diagnoses, attempted treatments, and utilized medications, alongside what proved genuinely helpful versus ineffective. I'll also inquire about your medical background, family circumstances, and other pertinent life factors, since this information enables me to construct an accurate, comprehensive understanding of your authentic needs.

Should medication become relevant to your care, I'll clarify your options thoroughly, explaining each medication's mechanism, expected timeline for observing changes, and side effects worth considering. Collaborative treatment planning holds significant importance for me, meaning your personal input and concerns genuinely influence every decision we make together.

My aspiration involves you departing this initial meeting feeling authentically heard and optimistic about future possibilities. By our conclusion, we'll have established groundwork for a personalized treatment grounded in solid evidence and specifically crafted around you, your unique circumstances, and your aspirations for lasting wellness.
