Great to meet you!

Great to meet you! I’m Salamatou Carr, a Board‐Certified Psychiatric–Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 23 years of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges. My background spans inpatient psychiatry, outpatient mental health, and correctional healthcare—experiences that have shaped me into a clinician who leads with compassion, cultural humility, and deep respect for every person’s story.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, attentive, and grounded in understanding the whole person. I take time to listen—to your experiences, strengths, fears, and goals—so we can build a treatment plan that feels meaningful and aligned with who you are. I integrate evidence‐based psychopharmacology with supportive therapeutic strategies, always honoring your autonomy and preferences.

Clients describe my style as calm, steady, and non‐judgmental. I value open communication and shared decision‐making, and I work to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. Whether we’re exploring medication options, processing difficult emotions, or navigating life transitions, my focus is on helping you feel grounded, understood, and supported every step of the way.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is warm, gentle, and focused on understanding what you’ve been carrying and what you hope will change. You’ll have space to speak openly without judgment, and together we’ll explore your needs, discuss options, and set goals that feel supportive and meaningful. Most people leave feeling heard, relieved, and more hopeful—knowing they have a caring partner walking alongside them.
