Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Sam and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the state of PA. I love working with clients who are in recovery from substance use disorders, as well as clients who may not have an addiction but would like to work on developing a healthier relationship with the substances they use. I also have a passion for working with young women with issues related to life transitions, relationships, and family stressors.

My approach to therapy

As a therapist, I interact with clients the way that I would want my therapist to work with me. This means that I'm showing up as my authentic self in every session, and I'm not opposed to self-disclosure if I feel it will benefit the client and the therapeutic process. I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I view myself as your equal, not as your superior. I believe that you are the expert in your life, and it's my job to support you and help you come to decisions that feel right for you. I'm definitely not a "blank slate" therapist, and pride myself on building authentic, trusting, and supportive connections with my clients.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, you can expect us to discuss what is motivating you to start your therapy journey, and we will also review your history, upbringing, family dynamics, and anything else you feel is relevant to share. You won't be asked to share anything that you're not comfortable disclosing yet, and I'll also give you a rundown of my background and how I plan to work with you, based on what you share with me. Together, we'll decide whether we think we're a good fit for therapy, and from there we will develop a treatment plan to support you in reaching your goals.
