Great to meet you!

I'm Sam, a therapist with over 20 years of experience specializing in trauma, substance

use and addiction recovery, anxiety, and depression. I grew up and trained in Arizona —

earning my MSW from Arizona State University — and I've spent my career working with

people navigating some of the hardest chapters of their lives. I have been a clinical director at several clinics over the past 6 years while also providing direct care. I work with adults,

adolescents, children, and seniors, and I provide affirming care for clients who identify as

LGBTQ+ or those navigating gender identity and transgender experience. My style is

energetic, open-minded, and genuinely empowering — I believe therapy should leave

you with more than just insight. You should leave with skills you can actually use.

My approach to therapy

My approach is active and evidence-based. I draw from Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive

Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Behavioral Activation — depending on what

each client needs. For clients dealing with substance use, I take a recovery-focused,

non-judgmental approach that addresses the root causes (often trauma, anxiety, or

depression) alongside the addiction itself. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I'm

direct, energetic, and I meet clients where they are — whether that's at the beginning of

recovery, in the middle of a mental health crisis, or somewhere in between.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's been

going on, what's brought you to therapy now, and what you're hoping to feel or

experience differently. I want to understand your story — not just your symptoms. You'll

also have space to ask me anything about how I work or what therapy with me looks like.

By the end of the session, you'll have a real sense of whether we're a good fit and what

working together might look like going forward.
