Great to meet you!

Sam is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of NY, with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She works well with individual adults struggling with processing childhood/developmental trauma, relationship/attachment concerns, anxiety, depression, life transitions & stress management. She looks to help clients process their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, create a deeper awareness and understanding of themselves, and ultimately develop self-compassion, relief from symptoms, and positive change.

My approach to therapy

My approach includes psychodynamic, IFS (internal family systems, also known as parts work/inner child work), and mindfulness and relaxation skills. I also utilize psychodynamic, & CBT/DBT at times. Ultimately I tailor my approach to the client's individual needs. I aim to work with the mind, body, and nervous system to create healing that addresses both the past and present.

What you can expect from me

I aim to create a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and provide a safe, nonjudgemental space. I hope for clients to leave sessions feeling more heard and understood, as well as gaining more insight into parts of themselves, and ultimately, more self-compassion and healing from past wounds contributing to current day protective/defense mechanisms, or symptoms. Years of sitting in the clients chair myself has led to a deeper level of empathy and understanding for my clients.
